Orchard Overview
Moora Citrus is an innovative horticulture project in the Midlands of Western Australia. The orchard is producing oranges and mandarins, with a focus on delivering fresh eating citrus into the local market across 8 months of each production year. Spanning 210 hectares of trees, the project is a fully integrated operation, from the growing of the rootstock through to the harvesting and packing of the citrus for supply to market.
12kms from the town of Moora, the orchard has been developed over a number of years by the Brennan Rural Group and supported by equity partners the Gillon Group.
The orchard has been developed to achieve a dominant market position in fresh citrus market in WA. The project has focused on developing sufficient scale to fill local WA market needs and enable value chain development direct into Supermarkets. The orchard will deliver high quality fruit which exceeds market demands and establishes a demand for local fruit in the WA market. To support this, purpose built infrastructure will continue to be built onsite. This will include an on-site packshed which is scheduled to be built as fruit picking volumes increase. This packshed will also be available to local horticulture projects to enable local picking and packing and supply direct into Perth markets.
The Orchard is also working with the local Citrus industry in WA to target export opportunities in the Asian Pacific region.
